American Kestrel

This is something you don't see every day, and something that doesn't get photographed every day: Two American Kestrels mating.

  1. Hi, Dale -- Shell's friend Jeanie here! I've been pouring over your bird photos -- you are simply amazing. I'm so glad you decided to blog these! Last spring we went on a raptor watch with a naturalist who took us about the area where we discovered red tail hawks, kestrels, owls, and an albino hawk, among others. It was one of my favorite days. I wish I'd had your lens and your talent!

  2. Hi, Jeanie! Thanks for visiting and your nice comments. Raptors (especially red-tails and kestrels) are beautiful creatures. I have been very fortunate to capture the ones I have on "film". (No, I shoot all digital now.)

Again, you are very kind - thank you! Please stop by regularly and tell all your friends. ;) I will add to the collection as I photograph them or dig them out of my archives.

  3. Talk about being in the right place at the right time. Good shot (as always).

  4. Simply amazing... Great timing.

    1. Thank you! I would love to see them back on this antenna again.
